Directory Template Tags - The template tags listed below can be used in either the default directory template or your own custom directory template file (which you can upload in the "Main Setup Area" of this admin area). The tags need to be added to your template exactly as they are shown below or they won't work.

[[content]]
This is the most important template tag. Make sure you add this to any custom directory template you upload. This template tag is what tells Reciprocal Manager to show the main content in your directory such as categories and links. This tag has already been added to the default template.

[[category]]
Will display the name of the current category the visitor is browsing. A good place to use this tag is in between your directory template's <title> and </title> code so that the name of the category appears in the browser's title bar.

[[dirindex]]
This tag will add the URL to your directory home page.

[[addlinkurl]]
This will add the URL to your user.php page so your users can submit their links.

[[affiliatepowerads]]

You can enter your affiliate link for this program in the "Affiliate Power Ads" section of this admin area (the link is in the lower left margin under "MAKE MONEY").

[[searchfeed]]
If you are a member of Search Feed's affiliate program, then you can display Search Feed search results in your directory. The search results will match the current categories found in your directory. You can enter your affiliate info for this program in the "Search Feed Listings" section of this admin area (the link is in the lower left margin under "MAKE MONEY").

"Template Variables" Section Tags - The tags listed below can only be used in the "Template Variables" section of this admin area (which you can find under "GENERAL SETTINGS" in the left margin). You can use HTML to change the appearance and formatting (font size, color, etc.) for any of these. Simply add your HTML code around these variables in their respective fields on the "Template Variables" page.

[[categoryurl]], [[categoryname]]
These two tags are used in the "Category path element", "Category name" and "Sub-category name" fields in the "Templates Variable" section of this admin area.

[[counter]]
Used with the "Category link counter" field. This tag allows you to change how the link counters next to each category and sub-category name is displayed.

[[description]]
This tag, when used in the "Category description" field, displays the current category description when "Show category description" is enabled in the "Category Settings" section of this admin (and "Show sub-categories" is disabled).

[[url]], [[linktitle]], [[title]], [[description]]
These are used in the "Link text" field. These four tags allow you to modify the way links are displayed in your directory.

[[reciprocal]]

[[infraction]]
Informs the link partner of a specific infraction so that link partner knows exactly why their link failed Reciprocal Manager's link check. There are several reasons why a link would fail a reciprocal link check, and they are listed below:

  • Their URL was not working or their site was down.
  • Your link partner is no longer linking back properly. If you have the link checker options enabled to check the accuracy of your link text or for checking for JavaScript redirection cheats (in the "Link Checking Settings" section), then RM will check for these and indicate that this was the reason the failed check.
  • If you enabled the option to crawl a web site to ensure that the link partner's reciprocal URL is accessible from their home page, and the link checker was unable to find a path to the reciprocal URL from their home page, then the link check will fail.
  • If robots.txt directives disallow access to the page on their site where your link is located (if this link check is enabled).
  • If the NOINDEX/NOFOLLOW meta tags are used on the page on their site where your link is located (if this link check is enabled).

* Link status email template only *
